I’m Damilola. I code for fun and for profit.
Been programming circa '09/10, mostly in C# at the time, with a little of PHP. Back then, the experience for me was more like a blind man wading through darkness. I did almost everything that could be done wrong career-wise, exactly that way—wrongly!
Fast-forward to 2015, I was Webmaster at Igbinedion University and wanted to deploy a University Management System because what was on ground at the time was a torture of a software. I was proficient in PHP at this time, so built the platform in the all-powerful vanilla PHP framework. I came across Laravel and Vue JS around same time, so rebuilt it in Laravel.
Although had an M.Sc. in Parasitology, I happen to enjoy writing code so much more, that during my M.Sc. program, I released SchoolServer, which I initially built using C# but rebuilt in TypeScript with a Laravel backend, purely because I happen to enjoy working with Laravel and TypeScript. Maybe I got a thing for rebuilding instead of refactoring.
Today, these experiences shaped me to commit to providing a better head start for software developers, as much as I can. This is also why my articles are not only intentionally beginner friendly, but also focus on providing insights to getting unstuck. I love Open Source, currently focusing on DevDB and Laravel Multipay.
